THE UNFORGETTABLE DIALOGUE

Assalaamualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Baarakatuh.
Niatku semata-mata agar pengalaman yang mengecewakan ini menjadi garis-panduan  atau precaution bila nak masuk hospital.. Details dari segi nama hospital dan masa dll akan saya ubahsuaikan supaya tak mendatangkan fitnah kepada pihak tertentu..

Lokasi : Pusat Rawatan Cahaya-Bunga , Kajang
waktu  : 8 am ,  16 hb November , 2005
Setibanya dihospital , excited to meet my very-newborn grand-daughter , I bergegas terus naik lif ke tingkat 2 , where you find the wards . As the lift-door opened , I was greeted by my son-in-law (looking exhausted + haggard + revved-up , the aftermath of a relatively long labour ,presumably ) . He interrupted my cucu-focussed trip . That was rather selfish I thought . He pulled me to the side and introduced me to a smart-looking middle-aged woman in a nice baju-kurung . Oblivous to the purpose of the introduction , I was ready to rush off to my girl and her new bundle of joy .I simply couldn't wait . However ,they( my son-in-law & the woman) stopped me ....she wanted to discuss an important matter . Nothing was more important to me at that moment than the two precious lives who had endured the challenge of last night's birthing process . Persuaded by my son-in-law , I had to oblige  ( a Lingzhi prospect agaknya I thought...in urgent need ). Here it goes ..........

Mrs X :  " Saya Puan X , staff-nurse bertugas hari ini ." sambil menghulur tangan salam berkenalan. Hati mula berdebar kuat bila dapat tau that this un-uniformed person was a the staff-nurse . Macam2 negative expectations related to the new baby / mom flooded my brain. 
Lantas I shot ,
me : " Anything wrong ? Has this got anything to do with my Girl or my new grandgirl ? I was with them through labour and all was fine ; it was written in the report . ". To this , she reassured me that everything was okay , no changes to the report . That brought a great relief  .Alhamdulillah . Then ? why this urgent , must meet-up , can't wait -till-later discussion ? My menantu looked like a zombie ..... silent and blank . What on earth is going on  here........
Mrs X :  " Boleh tanya sikit Puan ?" ,with an uncertain voice . Dengan pantas I mengangguk to get it over and done with . 
Mrs X :  " Betulke Puan tak nak cucu Puan di -beri apa2 suntikkan sekalipun ?". I smiled confidently to indicate that i knew exactly what I was doing and she would'nt be able to change our mind about that . In fact , the reason why we opt to have the baby in a private hospital ( where customers can put their money where their mouth is ) , is to have out-loud decisions undenied , in particular  ' NO VACCINES '
Mrs X ;  " Boleh saya tau apa sebabnya ? "
me :  " mmmm.......you really want to know ke ? sebab cerita ni agak panjang nak explain , but I'm willing to share a useful information , can we arrange to meet because I'm dying to meet the Duo ".
She persisted ,
Mrs X : " kerana sebab-sebab berkaitan dengan agama ke ?
me :  " ohhh....tak tak , mmm ye jgak , macam2 faktor sebenarnya sebab tu saya tak boleh nak terangkan sekarang juga "     
 Mrs X :  " Puan tahu tak what is immunisation about ?" she asked nicely ,yet firmly .I was getting a bit irritated by her persistence and her condescending question .
me : " yup , definitely i know enough about it ,its about making the body immune to diseases and thats very important . "
Mrs X :  " Kalau begitu, kenapa Puan refusing the vaccines ?  Puan tak takut ke nanti anak cucu Puan senand dijangkiti kuman2 yang terdapat di sekeliling kita ? Pernah dulu kes macam ni la ,tak nak cucuk 2, sekali baby tersebut kene whooping cough ,kami terpaksa tebuk kerongkong . " That same story had been used before , during the ante-natal check-ups of my eldest girl .  I don't loose patience easily ,she was lucky . I maintained my poise and responded.
me : " Let's put it this way ; like you , I also feel immunity is super important .  And for your information we do make serious effort towards it . The difference is you provide acquired immunity whilst we help the IMMUNE SYSTEM build itself up naturally ".
Mrs X : " Tapi tak ke Puan rasa bertanggung-jawab when your cucu akan membawa penyakit ke sekolah di mana kanak2 lain akan dijangkiti , cucu Puan sebagai carrier sahaja sebab his immune system has prevented diri dia sendiri dari menghidap penyakit tertentu .? Sabenarnya apa dia yang Puan amalkan to ensure 100 percent yang your cucu is going to be safe , mana buktinya dan apa lah salahnya kalau teruskan apa 2 amalan yang Puan nak buat , tetapi dalam waktu yang sama ambil jigak vaccinations ?" 
 Indeed she was going way overboard . I hanged on melayan the questions which was getting out of hand , hoping to convert this deviated mind in front of me .
me : "  Macam ni lah , I jaga my children in a way I think right and you jaga yours likewise . I have never tried to stop anyone ( not even my family ) ti immunise their children and I mintak from you to respect my choices , and not stop me either. As far as proof is concerned , all my children are unvaccinated and still living Alhamdulillah . And I won't simply take your suggestion to simply get them vaccinatedd for the sake of it , one of the reasons 
the risks involved ."  Nope she wasn't done yet .
Mrs X : " Ohh , sorang dua anak Puan yang living sihat , that's not proof . What if your cucu won't be the same ? Nanti you tentu rasa guilty . What risk are you referring to ? Is it about the baby who died due to the injection ? itu accidenal Puan , lagipun yang tersilap bagi tu ialah ibunya sendiri ( seorang doktor ) Manusia memanglah make mistakes . "  Actually I didn't know that story . I was referring to the statistical information stating that one-in-a -million baby contracted meningitis after a vaccination , To that , she replied its only one from a million , bukan lah ramai . Well i am sorry I don't want my children to be the one ..Back to her last reply ,I said impatiently .
me : " Excuse me , anak saya bukan soran dua . I have 9 children living in reasonably good health dan yan tua sekali  is more than 20 years old , plus saya sendiri yang dah hidup selama almost 50 years now , was never vaccinated !! Is that enough proof to you ??" I had had enough , I was loosing my cool , my time and energy wasted . With that I got up , apologised and angkat kaki . Beats me what on earth she wanted from me .
 Then ,............ she called out with a different kind of tonality - a mixture of anxiety + guilt + apolegetic + heplessness  . I turned around , nak apa lagi ?

 SABENARNYA PUAN .........MINTAK MAAF PUAN........KAMI DAH TERLANJUR.
